A Chorus Of Crickets
poem by: blue eyes smilin

A Chorus of Crickets A chorus of Crickets entertain me at night as I sit on my front porch with delight, their steady chirping is a joy to hear, music to my ears as they serenade me near, announcing that summer and all its glory, present a picture book and a colorful story. A cricket in the house is a good luck charm, hopping throughout and not meaning harm, I keep a brass cricket box on my porch, it sits next to my Kon-Tiki night torch, they are attracted to the bright light, curious and moving about without fright. Quickly they jump into the brass box, I shut the top and carry them quick as a fox to their special place on a tripod table, all night long they sing as they are able, by morning I release them and they jump away feeling freedom next to a tree stump.
